OUR PATH

Labóra emerged in 2021, uniting dissidents from the Bancada Ativista – a movement
that in 2018 elected the first collective mandate for state deputy in São Paulo, with
150,000 votes – and individuals involved in political campaigns and social movements.

Founders:
Juliane Arcanjo, Keit Lima, Lucas Freitas, Luis Barbieri, Mariana Bernd, Samuel Dias,
Fernanda Chagas, and Samuel Souza.

Dedicated to fostering dialogue and respecting diverse positions within the progressive field, Labóra’s fundamental pillar is promoting the formation of a broad, diverse, inclusive, and horizontal coalition, opening debates based on collectivity and democratic values. Committed to actively building an anti-racist, anti-sexist society that cares for the environment and vulnerable populations while fighting against LGBTphobia, xenophobia, regional prejudices, religious intolerance, and other forms of discrimination and oppression, we seek a real alternative for a socially just present and future.

Our initial goal was to provide political training to individuals aiming to build electoral
campaigns within the democratic and progressive field, understanding the necessity of bringing into institutional politics the actors who represent the foundation of Brazilian society.

2023

In September, we held the online workshop Conversations About Electoral Campaigns:
Planning, Mobilization, and Communication Strategies for candidates supported by the 2022 Traços projects, from the Tide Setubal Foundation, aimed at strengthening the professional, educational, and personal trajectories of Black individuals. The workshop consisted of three virtual sessions for 24 participants and was led by Juliane Arcanjo, Mariana Bernd, Keit Lima, Tamiris de Jesus, Gabriel Lindenbach, and Gabriel Gallindo. In December, we offered the free online workshop Strategic Communication in the Pre-Electoral Campaign, led by Mariana Bernd, Gabriel Lindenbach, and Gabi Juns. This 3-hour session was attended by 58 participants from across the country.

2022

In the first semester, we organized our first Political Campaign Workshop focusing on planning, mobilization, and strategic communication. During an in-person weekend immersion in São Paulo, we brought together seven state and federal deputy candidates from different Brazilian states: Erian Ozório (RJ), Vinicius Brahemcha (SP), Isa Tapuia (PA), Aline Karina (DF), Walter Sant’anna (BA), Vick De Paula (MG), and Crislayne Zeferina (ES). Facilitators included Juliane Arcanjo, Lucas Freitas, Mariana Bernd, Gabriel Gallindo, Gabriel Lindenbach, and Keit Lima. Production was coordinated by Samuel Dias.

2021

We began our educational activities in the second semester of 2021 by offering the free Political Campaign Workshop to 44 participants, including leaders, pre-candidates, and campaign coordinators. Over 10 online sessions of 2 hours each, we covered topics such as the social foundation of Brazil, Indigenous and Black issues in education, religion and politics, communication, and more. Facilitators included Karina Souza, Samuel Souza, Chirley Pankará, Adriana Vasconcellos, Sandra de Xadantã, Simony dos Anjos, Lino Bocchini, Zezé Menezes, Juliane Arcanjo, Fernanda Chagas, and Pedro Telles.
